We had a quick breakfast and headed out to visit Six Flags. We were hoping the rain was mostly over so we could have a good day riding and playing. It was still sprinkling quite a bit when we got there so we were really hoping that would help keep all the crowds away on a busy Saturday. After getting the horrible, dreaded (to Brayden) mine train roller coaster out of the way, we walked on all the other rides the kids really wanted to do. These kids are TERRIBLE drivers!
We had a much longer day available to stay this year so we ended up watching a couple shows this year too. First was the Wild West Comedy show which the kids really enjoyed. Kudos to them for keeping the material current with jokes about Facebook & Twitter as well as some music that Brayden is all about right now. Shortly after we saw a very cool show called Fighting Gravity. I would say it was a hip hop illusion movement show. There were only about 12 performers and they did an awesome job. I had to try pretty hard to turn my brain off from trying to figure out exactly how they were doing everything and just enjoy the show. Definitely a fun show to see and if it had actually been cold outside the break from the heat would have been wonderful as it was freezing in there!
After riding all the rides, bumping cars as much as possible and visiting the cool new wave pool, we decided to finally let the kids play games. Brayden had been begging to play the basketball game - if he got one in he won a basketball. We bought enough tickets where he could have 5 shots and prepared him heavily that he still may walk away with nothing. We gave tried to explain how carnival games work and not to get too excited just yet. Well, that was all a waste because after missing the first shot, he made the next two all net, no problem. It seems just when we are convinced he can't do something he aces it and if we are sure he can do something it's just the opposite and he fights us. Parenting this kid is tough!
We then let the girls try their luck with a couple games. After Ryan won a ball race game against Laney, winning a small frog, we led Laney to the balloon dart toss. The sign said the would let kids as young as her try until they hit a balloon. Little did we know it would take 30 minutes for her to pop one! It helped when Dave told her to turn the dart around! Ryan tried the impossible twisting ladder crawl and was extremely disappointed when she didn't win the bear that was actually bigger than her. Guess we missed the boat on preparing her for walking away with nothing. Thankfully the guy saw her face and handed her a little snake after her last fall.
Of course, we had to do the picture in front of the Batmobile again. Then we headed to one more free game - the softball in the bucket toss. The guy running the booth couldn't even do it so Dave and I just looked at eachother to say, "There is no way Brayden can do that." He had two chances and wouldn't you know he made the second one and won a giant superman guy. Yep, we are that annoying family that you see walking through the amusement park bouncing 2 basketballs while holding 4 stuffed animals! It's a good thing I don't have any room in my car for all that. They all ended up in Dave's car to go home the next day!
We grilled up some veggie burgers and put the kids to bed hoping for a dry night. I don't think they were awake when their heads hit the pillows after such a long, fun day. We must have walked 5 miles in the park and another mile up and back to the bathroom 4 times at the park! Dave and I shared another couple beers while I mapped out our drive to the first National Park stay.
Quote of the day: After I told the girls to hurry up in the bathroom because it was so passed their bedtime, Ryan jumped out and ensured me, "Don't worry Mom, I'll use my peeing superpower!" Well ok then.
Day 2: Six Flags and six prizes!
